BAUMSCHLAGER MOVIE POSTER

One of the best things I could've asked for along my career path was the opportunity to create a movie poster..

Now' I don't go into the taste in that specific movie,

since it's not the place nor the time...

I'll dive into some of the process in here.

INITAL VERSIONS

When I was asked to join in the dialogue of creating the poster, the concept was creating a somewhat of a "cult hit" comedy movie poster.

In the beginning, colors were more subtle and U.N like and initial composition that had been created by a previous artist (whom I really appreciate personally and professionally) was just not working .

The production wanted something more attractive (not just for goat lovers)

To make something more appealing to some audiences in Israel, the decision was made to create a resemblance in the logo, which also meant- no blue color.

The logo was created by another artist, and now that I had the green light I could get into my job of recreating the poster

MY STRUCTURE

First things first, to accommodate the change of the color palette , the green had to be instead of the all recognizable blue .

Since some of the characters were just too much dead weight on the poster, I decided to structure it better in a way that shows our main character (Baumschlager) in the front and all other characters behind in a manner to show that he was the guy in heat throughout the plotl.

Some of the characters pictures, that were given to me had also the problem of not being fully shown, so that's when the oranges that play in the movie came in handy (love that itamin c!)

Next thing in order was me making the pants more believable (that's right- those are NOT REAL PANTS!)

Now the next issues were regarding the goat blocking everything and making more "involved with the logo.

The logo went closer to the main character and the goat?... with much love had to be replaced due to production...

As shown here,a sketch over the poster explaining my process to the production.

BEHOLD! MAGIC PANTS

Attached is one of the most difficult things I had to do in order for this poster to succeed, and that is creating the character of Baumshlager as it appears, we started playing around with different ideas as to the pants, which are a khaki pants and in specific color and texture, the best source weve managed to get was a stock footage of jeans, which after a lot of time working on, I managed to make look like the UN's pants.

Here you can see some of my early recordings of the process, this was very daunting, to say the least, but worth it in the end.

TEASER POSTERS CONCEPTS

Just like in any movie production, here , as well, there was a request for some promotional posters to lure the audience to come and watch it.

The guideline for me was to create some controversy but maintain some "respect" and humor.

Here are some of the posters from the semi final version  of the process.

Finally, the movie was released.

I hope that by now you all know some if not all of what I did from creating a structure, creating things (like legs and pants that didn't exist)

and remember that if you look closely -you could see my signature somewhere (:
